I'm a professor in Applied Probability at VU University Amsterdam. My research is centered around the control of queueing systems, and applications of that in various areas, especially contact centers, health care and revenue management.
Next to my academic work I founded (together with my former PhD student Auke Pot) CCmath, a call center optimization company. I'm involved in Adtrackxys, which focuses on internet advertisement optimization. I work one day a week at the VU medical center on health care logistics, and I am involved in the VU Fraud Detection Expertise Center.
